La Viña Zarate and Associates is a developmental and social change (DSC), public interest, and progressive law firm.
We specialize in human rights, climate and environmental justice, and sustainable development law but we also do general practice. We litigate, represent, assist in legal compliance and assist in corporate needs, and do special projects for clients. We work at the local, national, regional (Asia-Pacific), and international levels.
The values of La Viña Zarate are: integrity; transparency; discipline; loyalty to our clients and to each other; gender sensitivity; respect for cultural, religious, and ideological diversity; a commitment to truth, the rule of law, and social justice; and love for country, the planet, and the poor.
We work to win our cases and to get the best outcomes for our clients. We work to improve access to justice for all, and especially for the basic sectors. We consider environment and human rights defenders, indigenous peoples’ leaders, teachers, and advocates, activist students and artists, and those have been forcibly abducted and their families as our principal clients.
We will not represent interests that are contrary to that of the basic sectors of our society (workers, farmers, fisherfolk, indigenous peoples, urban poor, women and children, the LGBTQ+ community, and other marginalized groups.
We are a firm that will adopt new technologies and make sure that we are using the most updated technology in our practice.
We are a firm that will always uphold a good-work life balance, that make sure we are not overworked, that we prioritize above work our health, families, relationships, and relationship with God. This applies to partners, associates, paralegals, and other staff of the firm.
In our internal affairs and relationship with partners, we will be guided by fairness and equity. This includes how we compensate people, how we share profits, the allocation of work, etc. This applies to partners, associates, paralegals, and other staff of the firm.
The firm will prioritize capacity building of the lawyers, paralegals, and staff of the firm. We support colleagues who are teaching and those who are studying and give them allowance and consideration in pursuit of such activities. We will assist in finding scholarships, fellowships, and other opportunities for everyone.
We are officers of the court and bind ourselves to what is required by the letter and the spirit of the Code of Professional Responsibility and Accountability (CPRA).
